What type
of computer do I need to get Wireless Internet?
The type of computer you need really
depends on the type of Internet experience you want to have when
using the computer, the type of work you plan on doing while on
your computer and the overall way you use your computer. So a
newer, more powerful computer will perform so much better than
an older, slower computer system. A newer system will allow you
to take advantage of all that high speed Wireless Internet has
to offer, including photography, music, stock trading, shopping
etc.
What are the
minimum Computer requirements?
Customers must have the following 'minimum'
system requirements:
- Ethernet Connection (10 Mbps or better)
- TCP/IP capable operating system with DHCP client, which includes
almost all current operating system versions such as Linux, BSD,
Mac OS 9 (or later recommended), Solaris, Windows (Windows 98
or later recommended).
- Browser (such as Firefox, Netscape or Internet Explorer).
- Must have a current AntiVirus program (scanner) on your computer
- particularly with Windows)
- Anti-Spyware Software is highly recommended
- It is strongly recommended that customers purchase a DSL/Cable
router/firewall. Examples include D-Link or Linksys. Use of more
than one computer within the residence or business requires a
DSL/Cable router to share the connection).
